EDBT Summer School on Data and Resource Management in Ambient Computing

The EDBT Summer Schools are a well established and successful international series organized every two to three years and has been very popular among young researchers in the database area. The ninth edition of the EDBT summer school will be held August 30th – September 4th 2009 at the Holiday Club Belambra on Presqu’île de Giens in south of France .
It is organized by the Grenoble Informatics laboratory (LIG), and the LAMIH laboratory.
The EDBT summer school brings together leading researchers of the database community and provides participants the opportunity to gain deep insight into current research trends in the database area.
This year’s summer school will focus on Data and Resource Management in Ambient Computing and will cover the following topics:
- Semantic-oriented data spaces
- Event and data stream processing
- Privacy-aware data management and information security
- Middleware for ambient computing.
The Summer School features lectures, discussions and interactions with highly renowned lecturers recognized as leading experts in their fields.

The instructors are French and Mexican researchers highly experienced in their domain, they come from prestigious research centers and universities in France and Mexico.
The goal of this summer school is to raise leading edge topics and recent trends related with image processing, computer vision and autonomous robots. Five principal axes will be raised:

- Movement generation and control
- Mobile robotics modelling and control
- Learning and Bayesian methods

It is made of general lectures and talks on these specialized areas making it possible to concretely cover both research and practical subjects.
